Event/Draft Rules
1) Drafting
- Order of the draft will be selected by random draw in advance of the event.
- The draft will proceed from first to last for the Eastern Conference and then switch to the Western Conference, which will also draft first to last. Draft will switch back to the Eastern Conference to select from last to first, followed by the Western Conference drafting last to first.
- This process will be repeated until each team has drafted seven players.
- Goalies for an NHL team (Goaltending Team) are treated as one pick.
- There will be a 30-second time limit for each player selection. If the time limit is exceeded, the Commissioner at his discretion can levy a fine, with all proceeds going to Special Olympics. The Commissioner’s decision on the time violations will be final!
- After selection of a player, please enter your pick on the summary sheet to be returned at the conclusion of the draft.
- Players that have not been drafted after the completion of seven rounds will be eligible for swaps (see below).
There will be a reception, which will give your team a chance to prepare and give your competitors bad advice. Dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m.
2) Roster Changes
- The Commissioner must give approval to all add/drops.
Waiver Add/Drops (Supplemental Draft)
With the NHL regular season still in progress as of April 16th, the deadline for waiver add/drops has been extended to allow managers to adjust their rosters ONLY for players drafted from an NHL team that DID NOT make the playoffs
SUPPLEMENTAL DRAFT
- ALL NHL players who were drafted and their team DID NOT make the playoffs WILL be replaced by an NHL player from a team that DID make the playoffs based on the following;
- They WILL only add an un-drafted NHL player left in the pool from the same Conference their fantasy team drafted
- These players will be swapped on a one-for-one basis
- PROCESS
- Add/Drops will be processed based on the draft position of the dropped player (i.e, a fantasy team manager dropping a player that was drafted with the 3rd round 5th pick, will have their claim processed before a player drafted 3rd round 9th pick followed by 4th round 3rd and so on until ALL non-playoff players have been replaced in the Supplemental Draft)
- DRAFT LIST:
- If a fantasy team manager wishes, they may submit a PRIORITY list of up to fifteen (15) NHL players (based on availability) they would like to add in order of priority.
- The top NHL player from that list that is still available (depending on draft order) will be added to their fantasy team.
- Deadline to submit priority list: 7:00 pm EST on April 18th
- Email priority list to Jason Hussak: jasonh@specialolympicsontario.com
- If a fantasy team manager DOES NOT submit a Priority List OR if their Priority List is exhausted when it comes to their turn(s) in replacing a player in the Supplemental Draft, they will receive the top remaining player based upon the WIZARD FOUNDATION Pre-Playoff Rankings (see attached)
3) Roster Size
- Roster size cannot exceed eight (8) players or go below six (6) players.
4) Scoring
Each team will earn points based on the performance of their players. Points are calculated as follows:
- Goal (G) or Assist (A) = 1 point
- Shots on Goal (S)= 0.1 point
- Hit (H) = 0.1 point
- Blocked Shot (BS) = 0.1 point
- Bonus Points:
- Overtime Goal (OTG) or Overtime Assist (OTA) 2 additional points
- Hat Trick (HT) = 3 additional points
- Winning Goaltending Team (W) 2 points
- Bonus Points:
- Shutout Goaltending Team (SHO) 3 additional points
Example Skaters:
If Auston Matthews has a playoff stat line of:
14 Goals (G), 6 Assists (A), 2 Overtime Goals (OTG), 1 Overtime Assist (OTA), 1 Hat Trick (HT), 49 Shots (S), 11 Hits (H), 2 Blocked Shots (BS)
Matthew’s playoff fantasy point total would be:
14 (G) + 6 (A) + 4 (OTG) + 2 (OTA) + 3 (HT) + 4.9 (S) + 1.1 (H) + 0.2 (BS) = 35.2 fantasy points
Example Goaltenders: (goaltenders receive fantasy points for goals and assists, including overtime bonus points)
If Toronto’s Goaltenders (Samsonov, Woll, Jones etc.) have a combined playoff stat line of:
10 Wins (W), 2 Shutouts (SHO), 0 Goals (G), 1 Assist (A), 0 Overtime Goals (OTG), 1 Overtime Assist (OTA)
Toronto’s Goaltenders playoff fantasy point total would be:
20 (W) + 6 (SHO) + 1 (A) + 2 (OTA) = 29 fantasy points
5) Tie Breaker
All ties will be broken in the following manner: Team awarded the higher position in the standings will be the one who has the player scoring the goal closest to the end of the playoffs. If two or more teams are still tied, the process will be repeated with the next player on their roster who has scored the goal closest to the end of the playoffs. This process will be continued until all ties are broken.
